Review: My Viking Vampire by Krystal Shannan

My Viking Vampire (Sanctuary, Texas #1)
By Krystal Shannan
Paperback, 298 pages
Published August 15th 2014 by Createspace
         ISBN: 1500853577 (ISBN13: 9781500853570)
Bailey Ross' world is crumbling around her. Her abusive ex, a human, is closing in on her again, and to make matters worse, a new enemy, a djinn, is stalking her. This supernatural being takes great pleasure in human pain, something Bailey has in excess thanks to her ex. If she's caught by either, she's as good as dead. Backed into a corner and desperate to escape, she does something she swore wouldn't ever be possible again -trusting a man. And he's a vampire. Protection via the sexy vampire Erick Thorson may prove to be a little more than she bargained for. Sparks fly between them and she finds herself agreeing to more than just protection. Though he has promised not to let anyone harm her, the small west Texas town is more than it seems and he may not be able to make good on his vow no matter how hard he tries. Will Sanctuary be the home Bailey longs for or will she have to die to find out?
Krystal Shannan

Krystal Shannan goes to sleep every night dreaming of mythical realms with werewolves, vampires, fae, and dragons. Occasional a fabulous, completely human story slips into the mix, but powers and abilities usually crop up without fail, twisting reality into whatever her mind can conceive.

As a child, her parents encouraged her interests in Ancient Greek and Roman mythology and all things historical and magickal. As an adult, the interests only grew. She is a child of Neverland and refuses to ever stop believing in fairies. She is guilty of indulging in and being a Buffy the Vampire Slayer groupie as well as an Angel fan. For those of you unfamiliar with the world of Joss Whedon, you are missing out!
She also makes sure to watch as many action and adventure movies as possible. The more exciting the better. Yippee-Ki-Yay… If you don’t know the end of that phrase, then you probably don’t like the same movies.

She enjoys reading romance in all genres, but especially paranormal. Her favorite book is ACHERON by Sherrilyn Kenyon. But really, if it has a ‘Happily Ever After’, she’s on board!

Krystal writes stories full of action, snark, magick, a little bit of humor, and heart-felt emotion. If you are looking for leisurely-paced sweet romance, her books are probably not for you. However, for those looking for a magickal ride, filled with adventure, passion, and just a hint of humor. Welcome home.
My Review:
I knew I loved Krystal Shannan's writing but this one took me to a whole new level! The world in this is so fascinating and scary and full of all kinds of different supernatural beings. Vampires, werewolves, Djinns, pixies, and so much more! It sucked me in from the start and I read it all the way through in one sitting.
Bailey has had such a hard and horrible life. She's been through so much pain but she is still such a fighter. I love how protective and sweet Erick is of Bailey. All he wanted is for her to be happy and to try and help heal her from the demons that her abusive ex left behind.
The two of them are explosive together. They are very sexy together and I love the sexual tension between them.
I definitely plan on grabbing the rest of this series. This was just so fascinating! The secondary characters are a riot! I adore Garrett! I can't wait to read more about him and his brother Travis. Calliope is awesome! She is so much fun and a bad ass!
I definitely recommend this one for fans of sexy paranormal romances with some suspense thrown in!

  1. this sound like a fantastic reads for sure ^^ the viking part did catch my eyes immediately

    1. I think you'd like it. Its pretty steamy but has a really good storyline.

  2. The blurb didn't really convince me (maybe I read too much paranormal romances lol) but your review sure did, I'll read it, thanks for sharing :)

    1. :) I was surprised by how much I liked it. It was more so the world that it takes place in. I liked the main couple.(though they did tend to have sex ALOT) but it was all that characters that made it so great.
