Review: Paranormal Protection Agency boxset(1-5) by Mina Carter

18711967

This book contains the following novellas: "Hard as a Rock", "Between a Rock and a Hard Place", "Protect and Service", "Seduced by Santa", and "Close Protection". The first five books in the PPA series now bundled together.

'Hard as a Rock'

Iliona's had a rough day, so the last thing she wants is a whiny ex on her doorstep throwing accusations about which of her co-workers she's sleeping with. When he starts throwing punches and one of her hunky gargoyle co-workers rushes to her rescue, Iliona is more interested in what exactly he's been doing on the ledge outside her bedroom window...

And whether he's interested in more than watching.

'Between a Rock and a Hard Place'

There's nothing like a bit of Gargoyle lovin'... Unless it's double the lovin'

Iliona is used to dealing with all kinds of paranormals thanks to her job with the Paranormal Protection Agency. Even so, an office break in by a banshee nearly has her heading for the pearly gates, and she needs a little 'me time' with her live-in, live on the building lover, a gargoyle named Cal.

But Cal's got some plans of his own. Plans that involve Iliona, a candle-lit room and some up close and personal time with himself and his 'twin' Granite.

Two sets of hands, two ridged tongues, two hot bodies...Being caught between a rock and a hard place has never been so hot.

'Protect and Service'

One curse. One Wolf. One Night.

Eloise is a woman on a mission. She needs to find a date for the annual hospital ball, and fast. The trouble is she's not only man-free but after her bastard of an ex had a nasty little curse hurled her way, no human guy will touch her with a barge-pole. Not after one date ended up with green acne, another with a nose like Pinocchio...the list went on.

Out of options, Eloise ends up at the offices of the Paranormal Protection Agency. She's not sure what to expect but she certainly doesn't expect Jared Stone. No-one expects Stone...

'Seduced by Santa'

A woman determined to spread the Christmas spirit...

Former socialite turned community centre worker Candice Kane loves Christmas. In the run down area she works in, economics and rising unemployment mean that there isn't a lot of Christmas spirit to go around. Determined to do something about it, for the last couple of years she's arranged a Christmas Party, complete with a visit from Santa for the neighbourhood kids. This year though, a break in and damage from vandals means the party could be cancelled...

A Santa who hates Christmas...

Rhod is...was a Santa. For years he joined the other men in his family delivering presents, until the attitude and ungratefulness of the rich children he delivered to made him hang up his red suit. Working for the Paranormal Protection Agency, he's convinced himself that he's happier without being the big guy anymore.

When he and his partner rescue Candy from an attack in a deserted alley, all Rhod's decisions are put to the test. Can he hold out against a woman with Christmas spirit in her heart, or will he lose his own in the process?

'Close Protection'

Ashlee Bishop is a bar owner. She was a happy bar owner until a bunch of pixies turned up demanding protection money. As a garden-variety human, she knows she doesn't have the ability to deal with the pixies, so she calls in the Paranormal Protection Agency to sort the problem out.

What she doesn't expect is for the pixies to come back before the agency can get to the bar, or the hot as hell werewolf who shows and starts teaching pixies how to fly. The hard way.

She certainly doesn't expect to be able to command his wolf... or to have to when the shit hits the fan.

Wow! This one is SUPER HOT!! You definitely need a glass of ice water or a cold shower on hand!
 This is chock full of sexy alpha males and strong female characters. I like how all 5 stories connect but you don't need to necessarily read them all together. Only the first 2 stories are about the same couple per say. Lots of different paranormals throughout. All are extremely sexy stories but full of humor. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Review: Her Wolf Ménage by Louisa Bacio

Her Wolf Ménage

By Louisa Bacio

She seeks adventure

What’s the use of living in a wolf pack when one isn’t a shifter? Jana strikes out from Louisiana’s national forest to New Orleans to find herself, only to discover more questions.

They want the same woman

The moment Jana steps into the French Quarter, Andre pursues the naïve beauty. An artist, he senses the hidden wolf beneath the surface, and her nature calls to him. It’s not until she leaves that long-time friend Dominick realizes what he wants. The two alpha weres must battle it out or learn to share to reach their happy ending.

My Review:
 This was a very fast, emotional, HOT read! With a little bit of action and suspense thrown in. I don't normally read a lot of ménage books but this one works.
 Jana has always felt like an outcast since she can't shift. She never felt like she really belonged with the pack and the man she loved never noticed her. So that leads her to heading out on her own to New Orleans.
 I really felt for Jana. She was basically treated like she was defective and wanted to be better. She could be very stubborn at times but overall she is a great character.
 Jana meets Andre, an alpha wolf in New Orleans. He's more of a lone wolf. I really liked Andre. He was super sweet and protective of Jana.
 Dom took me a bit to warm up to. Jana was in love with him for so long but because of his mother he basically acted like he took no notice of her. Once she was gone it was like he realized what was missing. Both men are definitely studs and great in their own ways. It just took me longer to warm up to Dominick. They each balance Jana in a different way.
 I'm definitely interested in reading the rest of this series now. There are a lot of great secondary characters who I'd love to read more about. Its definitely a fun series full of lots of different supernaturals.

Book Tour: Extinct by Nancy Adams + Giveaway

EXTINCT

by Nancy Adams

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Theo’s sole purpose for the last ninety-eight years was to protect his wolf. That changed the moment he met Drew and the wolf called ‘Mate’.
Carrying the soul of an extinct wolf alongside your own isn’t easy. Swapping into said wolf is even harder. Ask Theo Grey—he’s been doing it for ninety-eight years. Yet, after surviving two world wars, witnessing the space race and patiently enduring the eighties, you’d think he’d have seen it all, but nothing could have prepared him for meeting Tofino’s new vet, Drew O’Bannion and according to the wolf, his mate.
Drew loves her dog, sleeping in and coffee. She also loves being a vet. The main reason behind her accepting the veterinarian practice offered to her from a family friend. Hoping for a slower pace at life Tofino seemed the ideal spot. What she didn’t expect was Officer Theo Grey. Theo is tall, dark and drop dead gorgeous, a definite 10 on the ‘wow’ scale. Regardless of his looks, there is more to Theo, there is her unexpected attraction for him. It’s unnerving and completely out of character for her, but she is able to match Theo’s hungry kiss, for hungry kiss.
With their desire growing at an alarming rate and the threat of an unknown shooter roaming the woods of the coastal town, Theo must face the ultimate decision—let Drew go for her own safety or claim his mate for all time.
Reader Advisory: This story contains scenes of violence and threats of non-consensual sex.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

“That can’t be.” She narrowed her eyes. “Oh my God! You’re not just any wolf. You’re a BC wolf.” She took a slow, deep breath. “You’re supposed to be extinct, my friend.”

Theo and the wolf stiffened at the same time.

Run?

Drew knew what type of wolf he was. Not many people did.

The wolf lowered his head. Her fear and confusion and sudden excitement filtered its way through the wolf to Theo. He fought the wolf’s urge to bolt when he picked up the sudden nervous tension. No.

He needed a minute. He needed to figure out what that thing was between his wolf and the gray wolf. His wolf had become acutely aware of the smaller female, yet had kept his focus on protecting Drew. Theo wanted to know what that was all about, but he could feel the wolf’s puzzlement.

Drew’s sigh caught his attention. “And now you’re looking at me like I’m your dinner. Ha! Great!” Theo smiled and commanded the wolf—and himself—to calm down.

Resting inside the wolf, Theo watched Drew. She wrapped her arms around her middle as she examined him. Then, giving him a slight smile, she asked, “How are you alive when the rest of your species was killed off?”

He could smell her nervousness, which was understandable, but she was curious now too.

“Don’t worry,” she spoke softly, moving toward the rock. “I don’t expect you to answer.”

She sat down so slowly that Theo wanted to chuckle. He wouldn’t hurt her or attack her, not even if she provoked him, and neither would the wolf.

He was still a little baffled over their collective reaction to the pack’s intrusion. Normally he would have just walked away. Neither of them had wanted to get into a scrap with a pack of hungry wolves, yet when he had caught their interest in Drew, the wolf had almost taken over. It had been a long time since he’d had to struggle to maintain control of the wolf and it had been a long time since the wolf, through a red haze of rage, had demanded a kill.

My Review:

  This is definitely an ADULTS ONLY read! It was very hot!

  I was very intrigued with the different kind of shifter that Theo was in this. He carried the spirit of a wolf beside his own. They have a symbiotic relationship where Theo is the alpha.
  I loved Theo. He has a very commanding presence. Very alpha male. When he speaks its always important.  Drew is a super independent, sassy female. I loved how fearless she is. She made me laugh out loud at a few points.
  They meet when Theo brings an injured dog in that was shot to the vet and finds out that Drew took over. Instantly he feels a connection with her and his wolf recognizes her as Theo's mate.
 They start a relationship of sorts that's mostly just sex even though they both really like each other. Theo's fighting the truth that Drew is his mate. Which makes for some amusing conversations between him and his wolf.
  About half way through the book it starts getting really suspenseful. A hunter has been shooting dogs then shooting the local wolves. You come to find out that the target is really Theo's wolf which is a British Colombian wolf that's supposed to be extinct. He's working for a collector of extinct and rare animals who wanted them to make sure that the wolf was really there and track him so he could come and hunt it. He's just a very bad man in general and mad for a good bad guy.
  If you like suspenseful reads with some steamy romance then I would definitely recommend this for you. Theo and Drew are a fun pair to read about.

Blog Tour: VAMPIRE’S HUNGER by Cynthia Garner review + giveaway

VAMPIRE’S HUNGER  by Cynthia Garner (April 1, 2014; Forever Yours E-Book; $3.99)
In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, civilization no longer exists, and only the strongest survive. The few remaining humans must band together with supernatural beings to battle unspeakable evil-or all hope will be lost.
Kimber Treat is an ordinary woman with an extraordinary gift: she can raise the dead. As a necromancer who works with the police, she communicates with murder victims to bring their killers to justice. But after a normal session goes horribly wrong, Kimber realizes she's summoned something dark and sinister. She's unwittingly unleashed the apocalypse, and everyone blames herexcept Duncan MacDonnough, the devastatingly handsome vampire she can't stop fantasizing about.

As society shuts down and flesh-eating hordes close in, Duncan vows to protect Kimber. He can keep her safe from others-but not from the insatiable carnal hunger he feels for her. Now racing to reverse the chaos she's unleashed, Kimber can't afford any distractions. But even as she succumbs to Duncan's seduction, she fears that he has a hidden agenda. And with the line between life and death starting to blur, his secrets might kill her-or worse

Excerpt 2:

Duncan sat beside Kimber and put an arm around her shoulders. He pulled her to his side, wishing his body held heat like a human’s so he could warm her, console her. The fact that she didn’t fight the little bit of comfort he tried to give told him clearly how defeated she felt at the moment. She remained stiff, not relaxing into his light hold at all. She seemed to be regaining some vitality, because color had seeped back into skin that had gone gray with the energy she’d used to tap into the Unseen.

They sat like that for several minutes. The sound of the shower shut off—a record short time for Natalie—and then the bathroom door opened. He heard her patter to the bedroom she and Kimber shared, and that door closed.

Duncan rubbed his palm up and down Kimber’s upper arm, lending his silent support as she processed Bishop’s death. Finally she took a shuddering breath and settled against him. She turned slightly, winding one arm behind his back and the other across his waist, turning his one-armed hug into a true embrace.

“I’m sorry for hitting you,” she whispered. She rubbed her face against his shoulder. “I know it wasn’t your fault.”

Duncan brought his left arm over her and clasped his hands together. He rested his cheek against the top of her head. “It wasn’t your fault, either.”

She stiffened slightly. “If I hadn’t—”

“No, Kimber.” He tightened his hold. “Enough. You can’t keep blaming yourself for creating this mess. Even if you somehow caused it through your necromancy, you didn’t do it on purpose.” He paused. “Unless you have some secret take-over-the-world plan I don’t know anything about.”

She snorted a laugh. “No. No plans to take over the world with my zombie hordes.”

“Good to know.” He could feel the slight tremble going through her body and knew the lingering effects of shock continued to affect her. “Come on,” he said, standing and drawing her to her feet.

“Where’re we going?” She swayed, clutching at his arms for balance.

“You’re going to take a shower.” He swept her up into his arms and strode down the hallway. He didn’t set her down until he reached the bathroom. He reached into the shower and turned on the water, adjusting it until it was warm enough, then turned back to her. She stood where he’d placed her, blinking up at him. He stroked the back of his hand down her satiny cheek. “Go on, then,” he murmured. “Get your clothes off and hop in.” He turned to leave.

“Duncan.” Her scratchy voice stopped him.

He looked at her. Her eyes beseeched him, tugged at a heart he’d long ago been certain he’d squandered. “What is it, sweetheart?”

“I don’t want to be alone.”

The brokenness in her voice broke the heart he’d just rediscovered. “Kimber, if I get naked with you…” He wanted her. But he wasn’t going to take advantage of her trauma. She’d lost a good friend and wasn’t thinking things through. If she were, the last person on the planet with whom she’d want to be nude was him. She’d always been very clear about that. He shook his head. “Just take a shower. I’ll be in the living room when you’re done.”

He started to leave the bathroom again but she called him back. “I want you to get naked with me,” she whispered.

Shock made him draw a reflexive and unnecessary breath. It didn’t, however, keep him from getting an erection. He slowly moved to face her again. He wasn’t so noble that he could continue to turn her down. He wanted her to be very sure about what she was asking of him, what consequences would come of her request. “If we’re both naked, I’m going to fuck you,” he said, his voice and words raw and needy. His fangs elongated, the slight prick of them against his lip a reminder of how far gone he was already. “It won’t be slow and gentle. I’ve waited too long. I’m so desperate to get inside you that I’ll fuck you hard and fast. I’ll work my cock so deep you’ll feel me against your womb.”

Her pupils dilated. She bit her bottom lip but met his gaze head-on. “I don’t want slow. I don’t want gentle. I need hard and fast and desperate.” She pulled his T-shirt over her head and dropped it to the floor. The upper swells of her breasts gleamed pale against the soft lace of her bra.

He watched with burning eyes as she flipped the button at the waist of her low-slung jeans and slid down the zipper. She wiggled them down her hips and stepped out of them. When her hands went behind her back and unhooked her bra, thrusting her breasts out, blood pulsed in his cock. And when she shrugged out of the bra and he saw her bare breasts with their pink-tipped nipples, a groan rumbled from his chest. He’d wanted so long to see her like this, his self-control, his sense of right and wrong was being quickly overridden by the need pulsing in his cock and fangs.

He stepped forward and palmed one plump mound. Her nipple peaked against his hand. “Be sure,” he said, his gaze holding hers.

“Take a shower with me.” She pressed his hand harder against her. “Take me.”

My Review:
 This is definitely an adults only read!  I loved this one. It was full of action and moved very fast.
 I really liked Kimber. She's a very fun, sassy character who had me laughing out loud at moments. but also feeling very bad for her. She carries a lot of guilt from the apocalypse starting after she raised a man from the dead. What she thought was just a normal raising for her turned into something so wrong. Now everyone blames her for the start of the apocalypse.  It wasn't in any way her fault. Something very wrong hitchhiked on her raising. So she very much wants to try and find a way to fix everything.
 Duncan is tall, dark and, a very sexy alpha male, whose a vampire. Him and Kimber have this amazing chemistry but she's doesn't trust him since his queen really wants Kimber to work for her. Kimber doesn't trust the vampires since they got her parents killed. But since the apocalypse started Duncan has helped protect Kimber and her friends.
 Kimber realizes that Duncan is different and really does care for her when he tries to protect her from his queen. She wants Kimber to raise her lover from the dead and is threatening Kimber and her friends lives if she doesn't.
   I'm very excited to read the next in the series. This story focused more on the vampires then the zombies so I'm interested to see if Kimber can figure out what went wrong and caused the outbreak.

Review: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

18660669

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

So I reread this one in prep to go see the movie that's out now. I know that movies are never the same as the books but I wanted a refresher. I still loved it as much this time around as the first time I read it. I forgot how much fun Rose was. She can be so darn bitchy but she's so funny and sarcastic. I love how protective she is of Lissa even at cost to herself. And Dimitri... swoon. I'm going to have to read the rest of the series right now. It hooked me back in. So I'm excited to go see the movie now even though I'm still hearing mixed reviews on it.

Review: Fly You to the Moon by Jocelyn Han

20331442
After her father’s death, the last thing Ava Windsor wants is to leave Earth and move to an Elite colony on the moon for the next ten months. Nicolas, a half-uncle she doesn’t even remember meeting, is to be her custodian until she reaches the age of twenty-one. Until then, she is not allowed to touch the money her dad has left her. Being the only child of a disowned Elite father and a common mother just got a lot more complicated.

But surviving among the Luna Six Elitists who treat commoners as servants should have been the least of Ava’s worries. Nicolas Carter is nothing like she expected. He condemns the Elite lifestyle, he is a lot younger than her father, and he is definitely way sexier.
Ten months on the moon seem like an eternity if you know you shouldn’t be falling for your guardian… but just can’t help yourself.

A sweet, steamy romance novella for lovers of New Adult with a hint of Futuristic.

Given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review:

 Once I got over my initial discomfort over the taboo nature of the relationship this was a really fast read. Nic and Ava were practically strangers, only having met once when Ava was 5. Again once you get past him being her half-uncle it was nicely written. They had great chemistry and really complimented each other.
 For a short read it had a lot of angst in it. Nic couldn't come to terms with wanting Ava since it would be considered wrong and he didn't want to feel like he was taking advantage of her by being named her guardian. So there were a lot of hit and misses with them. Once they finally did get together it was very hot and steamy.
  The ending did feel a bit rushed to me. It took so long for them to get together with all the build up and once they did it ended so fast. I would have liked a little more time with them.

Review: Bodyguards by Kallysten

16079105

On the verge of her twentieth birthday, Vivien’s worries are those of a typical young woman: doing well in college, gaining more independence, and maybe managing to show Brad, her classmate and sometimes jogging partner, that she wouldn’t mind taking their burgeoning relationship to a different level.

Everything changes in the blink of an eye. Vivien stumbles into a knife fight, watches a man die in front of her, and soon listens, stunned, as Brad and his brother Aedan tell her a story of magic, vampires and a murderous ruler intent on killing a princess in hiding – a tale in which she is the princess and heir to a realm she didn’t know existed.

Vivien’s first instinct is to refuse to believe this incredible tale, even if it comes from a man she is attracted to. But when her self-proclaimed bodyguards use magic to take her to a different world, the edges of reality start blurring and Vivien has to figure out who she truly is.

Given to me from the author in exchange for my honest review.
  Another great series from Kallysten. This hooked me from the start to where I read it straight through til the end. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book.
 I loved all the main characters in it for different reasons. Vivien was very relatable in the situation she was put into. She finds out that she's this princess from another world no less that needs her help to over throw the king since she's the rightful heir. Where all Vivien wants to do is finish college and maybe date her cute running partner Brad. Only to find out that he's actually one of her bodyguards. Both him and his twin brother  Aedan. They took an oath when they were young to protect her.  She has her moments where you definitely get frustrated with her and want her to think about it from their side of things but again it is understandable that she's thrown into this position out of nowhere.
  I was definitely torn between the brothers. Brad is so sweet and loves Vivien but is torn by his promise and what is proper. He wants to be with her but he knows that he shouldn't. And Aedan who has been alone for so long and sacrificed so much for her without her knowing.
 Vivien falls for Brad but I have a feeling that she may come to love Aedan too. I can't wait to read the next book and see what happens.

Review: Bitten by Kelley Armstrong

11918

Elena Michaels is a werewolf. She tries to be human, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must reconsider who and what she is.

 I love this series! I've read this book probably 20 times and can still enjoy it. Elena and Clay are one of my favorite fictional couples. They just have great chemistry and I love the banter between them. I started this series over since the new show on Sy-Fy started based on it. This was one of the series that originally had me branching out into romance years ago. I used to read only mysteries and this one definitely has a great suspense to it. I have always been one for the strong female leads and Elena fits that bill. Her sarcasm and wit are so much fun and Clay who can be infuriating is also so lovable. Even the "secondary" characters are so much fun to read. I love Nick who is just a big flirt and Jeremy who is very serious but still kind and loving. I'm hoping that the new TV series can do this series justice.

So far I'm not big on who they cast for Clay. I'm iffy on Elena too but I'll give them a chance.  I've learned that you have to separate books from TV/Movies because it'll never be just right. But so far the show is pretty good and basically sticking to the storyline of the book. So we'll see.

Review: Flesh by Kylie Scott

 15845945

Ali has been hiding in an attic since civilisation collapsed eight weeks ago.

When the plague hit, her neighbours turned into mindless, hungry, homicidal maniacs.

Daniel has been a loner his entire life. Then the world empties and he realises that being alone isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Finn is a former cop who is desperate for companionship, and willing to do anything it takes to protect the survivors around him.

When the three cross paths they band together; sparks fly, romance blooms in the wasteland and Ali, Daniel and Finn bend to their very human needs in the ruins of civilisation.

Lust, love and trust all come under fire in Flesh as the three band together to survive, hunted through the suburban wastelands.

My Review:

 So normally when you think erotica or just a steamy romance you wouldn't think to add zombies right? But this was really well done. Yes it was a zombie apocalypse or whatnot but they weren't at all the main focus of the story. It was definitely a character driven story about how much society and social graces can change when the world falls apart.
 So anyways my point being is that connections can be made much faster than we would normally consider. When Dan found Ali it was instant want and love for him. He basically strong-holded Ali into staying with him and didn't give her much of a choice. He was so desperate for a human connection and a female at that. I didn't like it at first how easily Ali gave in to him but I can understand how it can happen when you have no other choice. Then along comes Finn who also falls for her very fast. They all band together and Dan and Finn come to an understanding that all that matters is keeping Ali safe. She in turn falls for them both even though she thinks its wrong but the worlds changed so social norm have gone out the window.
  The sex in this was VERY hot! It is mostly M/F but there was some M/F/M but it was well written and it wasn't M/M which I know some people don't get into. So if your looking for a good steamy post-apocalyptic romance this one could be for you.

Reviews: Father Mine + Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward

5153799

 As a former blood slave, Zsadist bore the scars from a past filled with suffering and degradation until Bella came along and helped heal his emotional wounds. Now, though, with the birth of their child, the demons of his past have been resurrected, called forth by the innocent eyes of his beloved daughter, Nalla. Unless Bella and Nalla can bring him back with their love, he may be lost to them forever.

My Review:
  I really enjoyed another little story into Zsadist and Bella's storyline. I always felt that there was a lot more to their journey that needed to be explained. He had so many issues that they wouldn't be resolved so fast. I liked that this was a filler to help see how he was coping and more into him becoming a father and that dynamic.

 Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.

 Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

My Review:
 I love Rehv! Since we were first introduced to him I found him fascinating and wanted to know more. I was very happy with his story. I really like Ehlena too. She was a great fit for him. There was a lot of Wrath in this one too. I know in all the books they have bits of the other brothers in them but there really was a lot for Wrath. Not that I'm complaining. I always love going back and revisiting the other brothers. I'm hoping that since The King is another Wrath and Beth story that JR Ward may write more to the other brothers. I love Rhage and Mary and would like more of them.  I also loved getting a little more insight into Trez and iAm. I definitely want a story for them.

In Caldwell, New York, war rages between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Now the cold heart of a cunning predator will be warmed against its will...Ruthless and brilliant, Vishous, son of the Bloodletter, possesses a destructive curse and a frightening ability to see the future. As a pretrans growing up in his father's war camp he was tormented and abused. As a member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotion, only the battle with the Lessening Society. But when a mortal injury puts him in the care of human surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb compels him to reveal his inner pain and taste true pleasure for the first time-until a destiny he didn't choose takes him into a future that cannot include her...

My review:
 Vishous was the brother that interested me the most from the first book. He was just so mysterious and captivating. His story is really heartbreaking and definitely helps you understand why he seems so cold. I will admit that the first time I read this I was disappointed with how certain things went with Jane but to avoid spoilers I wont mention what happens but the second time around I was more open to it and it's an interesting twist. Jane is a great character too. Very witty and had a take no prisoners attitude. They were very well matched. So this is one of my fav's of the series.

Description from Goodreads:
In this "frighteningly addictive" paranormal romance saga there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. Here are the stories of a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now a dutiful twin must choose between two lives...Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body, but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with the Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love....

My review:
 This one was hard to get through. Phury isn't one of my favorite brothers but I do think he was dealt a bad hand. I really liked his character in the earlier novels but in the later books and this one he just became very sad and annoying to me. I was just fed up with his self pitying. Now I do think he was treated pretty awful from those he calls brothers and even his twin Zsadist. He gave up a lot for them and when he was going through some bad stuff they basically just wrote him off.  I loved getting more backround on some of the other characters in the series and it makes me want to read their books even more. This one just left me wanting more for Phury though. I may not necessarily like him the most but I think he did deserve better.
